Don’t Give Up

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” Psalms 121:1

One of the main reasons that people give up is because they lose sight of their source of strength. The writer of Psalms 121 is unknown but he pens his experience on his journey to Jerusalem; The Holy City, where the Temple is, the place where God said that He would dwell.

Jerusalem represented a place of destiny in God or it represented God’s desired will for our lives. We all have dreams and visions that we are in pursuit of along life’s journey. However, on our journeys we encounter valley experiences. Low and disappointing days are certain to come in life but what keeps us encouraged and strengthened is the reminder that the Lord is our help. In the low times of our lives we have to lift up our eyes unto the hills. “Lift” is a verb. It is an action word. It means to carry, to force, or make an effort.

There are times when you are so burdened down and discouraged but you have to force yourself to look up. Force yourself to look to where your help and strength comes from and that is from the Lord. The key is, to reach any goal in life you have to stay encouraged and strengthened in order to make the journey. The Lord will help you. It’s easy to be disappointed and discouraged when we focus on people who we thought should have been there for us or people who we depended on but are no longer in our lives for whatever reason. We cannot blame them for our not continuing the journey. We must look to the Lord who is our help. He will not suffer our foot to be moved; meaning that the Lord will keep us. He will keep those that look to Him for help. Stay encouraged, strengthened and inspired by keeping your focus on the Lord. With Christ you can do all things. Philippians 4:13
